Pinball machines need constant care and maintenance. They are an excellent source of entertainment for children and adults alike, but as the machines get older, maintenance becomes an issue and you may need to get your pinball machine repaired. What you don’t want to end up doing is spending more time getting your machine repaired than actually playing it.
What should you do if you need to repair your pinball machine or replace a part?
The first thing you need to know about your pinball machines is that they can hold very high voltages that may be deadly. Unless you know what you are doing, DO NOT attempt to repair the machine yourself. This high level can remain even after being unplugged. Therefore it is important to make sure the machine is unplugged and let it sit for several minutes to ensure all the voltage has been depleted.
Many pinball repairs can be quick fixes that range from replacing a bulb or flipper, or in more severe cases can lead to a complete overhaul of the whole pinball machine.
A pinball machine has two key areas, the play field and back box.
The play field is the most important part of the game. You will need to keep dirt or anything that obstructs or slows down playing away from here. We can provide a full clean service to ensure the play field is free from oils, debris and anything that can cause an issue whilst playing.
The damage caused by the speed of the ball, which could be 40 miles per second, could be great. The flippers are a major part. They are easy to repair in most cases, and we carry a large number of spares at all times.
The most common cause of a pinball machine fault are the fuses. Many times in an older machine a wrong fuse will be installed. There are three sorts of fuses – time delay, fast acting, and extremely fast acting. You should always use the correct value. If your machine still does not work call us and we will come and repair it. We are happy to remove the machine if we need to, carry out the repair and deliver back to you.
Sometimes internal batteries leaks and cause damage to circuit boards. These should be checked and replaced regularly, as they maintain your high scores.
